Neverland awaits everyone!

The Challenge

Flying through Neverland, through a magical world where fairies exist, where there are pirates led by a grandmother, where we learn to fight for children's rights and where everyone flies back to childhood... is there any greater challenge than this? Reinventing a classic of children's literature with a didactic approach that promotes children's universal right to a happy childhood.

Idea

This show, with a reinvented script, sought to highlight the universal rights of the child, reinforcing the educational component that underpins AM Live's shows year after year. Full of teachings, Peter Pan on Ice made more than 18,000 children* and 1,800 chaperones* and teachers believe in fairies.

AM Live, on its sustainable path, has identified several actions that have contributed to the realization of a more sustainable show, with a notable social impact:

- Inclusive session for the deaf and blind, with interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language and audio description;

- Solidarity session for all underprivileged children in the municipality of Oeiras, in partnership with Oeiras Town Hall;

- Creation of a reduced price ticket - Bilhete Sorriso - for the deaf, blind and people with disabilities;

- Collecting donations for UNICEF.

The main message of the show became more inclusive and universal and the Universal Rights of the Child became even more universal.

"Our commitment to children's rights is unconditional..."

Luísa Motta, Director of Fundraising and Partnerships at UNICEF Portugal, says: "At UNICEF Portugal, we recognize the importance of initiatives like this, since we depend entirely on voluntary contributions to fulfill our mission of promoting and defending children's rights. This show addresses this important issue in a playful way, at a time when the public is more receptive to this type of message. Our commitment to children's rights is unwavering, and we want to thank everyone who joins us in this mission. We believe that all children deserve a childhood full of dreams, opportunities and joy."

Implementation

90 SHOWS, 80 STAFF ELEMENTS and 22 ACTORS brought the ice stage of Alegro Alfragide's AM Arena to life! A season of 45 days and 5,676 minutes on stage, from November 30, 2023 to January 14, 2024. We formed a team that, from day one, brought joy and commitment to make "Peter Pan on Ice" an unforgettable and magical moment for everyone! Neverland was an irresistible place for the corporate segment - there was an increase in interest from companies in seeking out this type of experience as a Christmas gift for employees, resulting in 10001 spectators*. In the end, the words that reflect all the enthusiasm of the experience remain:

"Very good! I loved it, it made the kids happy! Everyone was extremely talented... the scenery was beautiful... the music too... congratulations!" "It was an excellent show. Congratulations to everyone!"

"2023 was particularly special for the whole team because it was the year we marked 10 years of ice musicals in Portugal."

For Bruno Galvão, AM LIVE's producer, "2023 was particularly special for the whole team because it was the year we marked 10 years of ice musicals in Portugal. As in previous years, these two shows were extremely demanding in terms of the development of all the stages - before, during and after the shows - but I think we managed to mark the milestone of this intense decade in a very positive way and we feel very proud of that."

The producer also added that "the figures achieved reflect the fact that the AM LIVE brand continues to be recognized by the Portuguese, namely by schools, companies and families, our main audiences, who want to eternalize magical moments at such a special time. The increase in the number of spectators can only reflect that we continue to grow in creation, originality, quality, demand, responsibility and safety. We want to continue to show that culture also builds us as people."
